Correcting all of Remy's inaccuracies is a full time job, and it doesn't pay well enough.
Hand in the cookie jar? So, is Apple our Mom? Giz wasn't doing anything wrong. They were doing their job, which is providing people with information about a product that interests them. Don't tell me you didn't read about the iPhone 4 before it was officially announced.
It may have been a non-issue from a standpoint of the percentage of people affected (neither you nor I can know that for sure), but it was a real complaint from real customers and was then duplicated by every interested publication and website that I can find.
The real problem, what made this "antennagate," was not the reception issue, it was Apple's response. When faced with anything short of adulation, Steve Jobs and Apple suck at PR and they let this "scandal" happen because of their ham-handed response.
Questioning Apple is not iHate, and is certainly not a cult. What do any of the named parties above have against Apple (besides Giz)? What do they have in common short of interest in the performance of new hardware? Apple is the biggest tech company in the world. News flash, they are not the underdog anymore. But you and Apple are still acting like it's Apple vs. the world. I think you have a persecution complex.
I call B.S.
It absolutely is petty of Apple. I am not an iHater, either. At this very moment I am salivating over the specs if the new iMacs. If I could afford one, I would get one today. But Apple, as I said before, cannot handle anything short of adulation. Mainstream attention about their antenna problem has generated a major Apple/Jobs hissy fit. They should have admitted there was a problem, pointed out that few people can duplicate the problem, yada yada, and given free cases about two and a half weeks sooner then they did. 'Antennagate' would not have happened.
As you probably don't recall, the Watergate scandal was not about whether or not the Republicans broke into the Democratic Headquarters. It was about the cover up. It was the lies after the fact that lead to Nixon's impeachment proceedings and his subsequent resignation.
Bill Clinton's impeachment was not about his extramarital affair, it was about him lying about it under oath.
Antennagate is not about the hardware problem. It was about how Apple responded to the hardware problem. That is why everyone from CNN to CR was weighing in on it. The whole world was standing in disbelief at how petulant Steve Jobs was acting over some very fair questions and concerns from paying customers.
Gizmodo, who was caught with there hand in the cookie jar

The very non issue antennagate was push to levels of sheer insanity.

You talk about the cult of the fruit, all I saw was the cult of ihate jumping on board the ship as fast as they could. CNN got caught up in it, thishelpdesk was caught up in it and CR got caught up in it.

And when all the smoke cleared and no phones were returned
I call B.S.
The ihaters moved on to talk how petty it is for Apple to point out the flaws they share with other phones.
