Now if they had an app that would translate speech onto a txt message and send it.. that'd be a cool app. Does droid have that or iphone? M$'s Tellme is pretty sweet. They integrated it in with the bing app too so you can search the web without touch input. I'm actually very impressed with how well it translates to text for txt messaging, kind of handy while driving.

Talk to me translates the text as well. You speak, it transcribes into the spoken lang, translates into the foreign text and then reads that text outloud. You can type directly into it rather than speaking and there is a menu option to send the translation via text or email.
It's da bomb

Ya know how I mentioned earlier how I thought that forcing apps to be installed on the system memory from the appstore was dumb? .. well, Windows Marketplace does the same thing so I guess we're all in the same boat. Luckily for me, it's only the M$ appstore. I can get a normal cab and have the option to install to the SD card.
But still.. so dumb.

It is a good reason. But it's also the same old 'buyer be ware' thing. There is a balance, but it depends on the audience. Some of the audience for iPhone and droid are a bit inept (we all have friends that are new to the internets) so they may need to have 'big brother' approve apps for them. Luckily for me, WinMo is unpopular and the underground of the OS is driven by new builds and programs from alpha-geeks who still are a pretty tight bunch. No malware as of yet. We don't break our phones from malware, we just beta test ourselves to the point of anemia.

Me and my wife picked up Android phones this week. I got the HTC Hero, and she got the Samsung Moment. We are both really liking the phones. Can't wait to dig deeper into all the apps that are out there for me to try out

That 7incher touchscreen is very intriguing! Congorats on the new droids. My Touch Pro2 screen just failed sad.. so I opted for a new phone. (the same one). I can't handle a droid yet. I need to get all I can out of windows mobile before they gimp it out. BUT I think I'll install android on it and try it out. Who knows, maybe I'll like it now that it's matured quite a bit from when I installed it for a few hours on my old tilt. linklink: Android is growing fast but it has a ways to go, still
