Okay now that Firefox is installed I can loin to the message board! IE 8 still has issues...
Well Microsoft did a great job of recreating the same old thing in a new skin!
So far not a big difference in performance, there does seem to be less security pop ups.

You mean other than being a Microsoft Browser JK; a few pages just won't load right, like this one and the Drupal admin logging for a work site I have.

So far I have only installed WIN7 x64 on a lappy spare HD and on a partition for my secondary MCE. For the little time i've played with it, I've experienced a noticeable difference in speed and response time. I'm not using it a lot though so i don't really have a viable opinion of it yet. My lappy HHD has to be fully encrypted and i work on it too much to do a re-install for main usage.
Since the x-fi drivers don't work for the mce box i dont use it to watch tv/netflix either.
i'm really just waiting on creative i guess. ..ehfing creative.
Have you installed any games yet b0lg?

So far I only have it on my MacBook Pro and set to the default OS so I can use it. It does seem to boot faster but it's a fresh install so well see how it holds up! I plan to install it on my game system this weekend, I'll test out L4D for sure! That was nice review, i agree that W7 seems on par with 64bit XP as for post boot speed! However my install went rather fast, I want to say 20-30min almost all drivers even isight drivers. I just had to install the multi-touch mouse and keyboard driver from apple.

Looks fine, so far the issue is limited to logging in to sites. An it only happens on W7 and IE8. IE8 beta for other systems is a different version I think and works fine.

WoW plays fine, but netflix watch now does not seem to work right with IE8. I downloaded L4D last night so we'll see how that plays tonight!

Played with 7 for a couple weeks. WoW played a little more choppy. And some sites that use Flash would make my computer blue screen. The Media Center also made my computer blue screen when I tried to run it. I know it's only a beta, it seems promising.

Vista beta was better than the release.

Because more is better.Anyone know how far along gaming in Ubuntu is right now? I know some guys have Steam and WoW running, but I'd rather not spend 6 weeks getting it to work. /sooverwindows

Ubuntu? What is that good for other than viewing web pages and .txt documents? linux? pshaw, it should stick to what it's good at, Servers. heh
After a solid week plus of using it on the secondary MCE box i am heartily enthused for it's release. I found some beta x-fi drivers and i've been using the media center a lot. I dig that it takes the QAM channels and puts them in the normal channel lineup now. The guide and mini-guide are nicely improved too. It also goes in and out of sleep to record a tv show or whatever easy as pie.
I even talked my IT guys into giving me my new lappy with W7 on it for work so I'll be using it most of my day now.
I still haven't gamed much on it yet.. ATI has good driver support for it, so i'll find time and check that out. I may go all W7 on all my boxes before the end of Feb the way this is holding up. The Home Network features really interest me.
