The talk of reparations got me thinking about this old Chapelle's Show video: Disclaimer! This video does not reflect my opinions, those of the Fighting 69th or its affiliates. www.jibjab.com/view/140957

For our next topic, as brought to us by my Biology professor from last night's class:

For our next topic, as brought to us by my Biology professor from last night's class: Global Climate Change - Fact or Fiction? The climate of the globe has been changing since the globe was formed. The current nightmare scenario of "Global Warming" has been happening since the ice age. Should we do what we can to lessen our impact on the environment, sure. Are we to blame for global warming, no. Can we stop global warming, no. (well not unless Johnny Freeze makes a much bigger freeze cannon)

Respectfully, I disagree. I do think humans are responsible for it, but at this point I don't know if there is anything I can do. Will me riding my bike instead of driving make a difference when China and India are doubling their use of fossil fuels every year? (that was a made up statistic, but probably not off base). If anything is to be done in the practical sense, it is going to have to come from the governments imposing restrictions and enforcing compliance - which of course will need to come from the people. The only light at the end of the greenhouse tunnel is the cost of using fossil fuel. We could power almost everything off of renewable energy, but the cost is prohibitive. Only when fossil fuels outstrip the cost of renewable (which probably will happen within 20 years - yet again, my number) will there be any real change in our 'carbon footprint'.

I do believe that we have a slight impact on the global climate change, but not nearly enough to cause a global warming. There have been too many crazy weather patterns in the past, uninfluenced by mankind, to credit the current warming conditions to us. It's as silly as saying we were the cause of the Medieval Warm Period that occurred prior to the Little Ice Age.

the George Forman of 2024 is a rocket. A lean mean fat reducing rocket.

So I'm not the only person who saw that graph and went "WTF is he talking about?"
Found the video.

Now this is absurd, giving away 1billion dollars while our own economy is in the crapper? But they say it's too soon to consider military assistance. So if we give them 1billion dollars and Russia just takes over, Russia gets the money?
