Methinks I need a break from the iPad discussion. I think we have our opinions broken down enough to understand each other and I think we may be to the point of conversational saturation. SO. I know this is a fairly mute point because most of us ( read: everyone but me and Phr0st), play WoW. I wanted to know if anyone's stoked on any current or future game out. I always keep my bias towards Shooters for biggest bang for the buck and time. bl00k mentioned how he's enjoying FarCry 2, I've fired it back up and am playing with the 360 controller, and it is pretty fun. I never went more than a couple hours into the single player before playing Multiplayer which soured me to the game and I quit playing. ***** I preordered Bad Company 2. I'm fairly certain I'll enjoy this one as much as I'm enjoying Modern Warfare 2. ***** I'm Very stoked for Assassin's Creed to come out on PC in March - The first installment is among my all-time favorite game playing experiences. ***** I'm contemplating Bioshock 2.. the first was fun. ***** The new Aliens Vs Predator looks good. It could be another fun multi-player experience. ..I sure do have fond memories of the first one back in Cedar City. ***** I started playing my extended trial of Mass Effect 2 this last weekend.. after a few hours in decided I should buy it as I'm going to finish playing it. It's a nice mix of rpg and shooting and storyline to keep my attention and deliver some relaxation. So far, I really enjoy playing it. *EDIT* I didn't do any reading up on the game or pay attention to any hype, I enjoyed the first so figured I'd give 2 a try. One of the characters you meet right off the bat is a hot chick who looks uncannily like the actress from NBC's Chuck.. Turns out she's not only modeled after her but she also does the voice acting. I kept thinking of the arse-kicking CIA agent in chuck every time I looked at her in-game toon... i guess I know why now. I knew Seth Green was in it, he was in the first, but I guess there's a whole slew of RL actors in the game: www.kotaku.com.au/2009/12/mass-effect-2-is-full-of-stars/crazy. ***** SO! To sum up my current and future gaming itches: - FarCry 2 +1 Good one to hop into and play an hour or two.
- Modern Warfare 2 +1 WIN. I love the fast multiplayer action
- Bad Company 2 +1 I'm pretty sure this will be a fun shooter. It has vehicles!
- Assassin's Creed 2 +1 I can't wait easily for this one!
- Bioshock 2 +0 I dunno.
- AvP +1 I want to love this
- Mass Effect 2 +2 It's like being in my own Movie where I get to shoot things.
Anyone looking forward to some non-wow games this year?

I really like Assassin's Creed 2 on the 360, it's been great. We have MW2 on the 360 as well, the single player was short but fun. I hope to get it online this month.
Dragon Age may have an expansion of sorts this year, thought I read it somewhere...

Dragon Age may have an expansion of sorts this year, thought I read it somewhere... I started Dragon Age and it was fairly fun. I played it long enough that I had to put the stake in my virtual moral ground and told myself I should to buy it before playing any further.. never bought it or played it again. dangit.

I did the same, got it from you and played it over a weekend. Figure I may get it for the xbox as it seemed suited for the console controllers.

Don't get it for Xbox! Everything I've heard on Dragon Age says it is bad on Xbox. It was really developed for the PC and the control scheme is much better on pc. I've heard this from multiple game news sites and podcasts.

Dragon age looks interesting, I've thought a few times about demo'ing it. And I have a friend who wants me to pick up AvP; I really enjoyed the first one so that might happen.
I'm looking forward to Warhammer 40k 2 Chaos rising. And Supreme Commander 2 might be good also, but I've not looked into it at all. And then of course there is the ultimate rts sequel coming some day, Star Craft.
I'm always looking at the other MMO's and hoping for something awesome. The new star wars one maybe? Probably not, but I'm hopeful.

On a side note to those of you who can't get into the farm/build/attack rotation that is most RTS games. 40k II is not that game. It's all small squad action. It's a little RPG with it's mission flow/story telling and gearing up and choosing skills for your squad. But it's fast paced squad tactics that I always wanted in and RTS but have never really had before. Choose your load out, hit the planet and kill the bad guys! Tons of fun.

As mentioned, I have been playing FarCry 2 and enjoying it well enough. I did try out the multiplayer very briefly. It didn't seem to be very good at all, but the map I was on was built for snipers only with a big trench in the middle. Maybe another map would change my mind, but probably not. I thought the world was amazingly created and beautiful and large, but then I reached Act 2 and found out that the world is twice as big as I originally expected. Now I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it may be 3 or 4 times larger than I originally thought. The second area is just as amazing if not more so than the first. It has a lot more water for me to skim around on in my boat. I haven't played for the last few days, but I will go back and play more. Despite the story being fairly weak I do want to finish it.
Once I do finish FarCry 2 I want to start playing Fallout 3. I have several games on my Steam account that I have yet to play. I saw The Book of Eli and it reminded me of Fallout 3 and I have no reason that I haven't played it other than a lack of time (read: WoW). I've heard great things about Fallout 3 and I hope I like it. I have never played a Fallout game before but did notice that GameTap has the first one for free now. I don't think I will go back and try to suffer through it and just jump into the new hotness.
Mass Effect. I picked up Mass Effect on Steam for really cheap during one of their sales. There has been a lot of Mass Effect talk on podcasts lately due to the sequel, but everyone says how great the first one is. One person said that Mass Effect would be his number one game of all time for the 360. Hearing about how EVERYTHING in Mass Effect that had any problems has been fixed in Mass Effect 2 makes me wonder if it would be worth going back and starting on the first one or just skipping to the second, but I think I would like to play through it and then be able to start out in 2 with my own save game.
Dragon Age has had my interest for years, since it was on the cover of CGW way back when they were still in print. I do want to play that game, but I've already got a huge queue of titles lined up. So by the time I'm ready to play Dragon Age I'm hoping it is cheap and bundled with the DLC. And as mentioned before, from what I hear, the PC version is the way to go on that one.
I've also been jumping into some CoD:MW1 multiplayer lately. I'll play for 15 min here 45 min there. That game is still a lot of fun. My profile got reset a while back so I've been leveling up again. Having that carrot out there I think helps draw me into it. I do want to play MW2 but feel like I can't start anything new till I finish some other things. But it is on my list of games to play.
I am also looking forward to StarCraft 2. StarCraft is just one of those games that was so amazing and I played for countless hours. I am really excited to step back into that world again.
I remember having a blast with AvP2. I kinda missed the first one and when I went back to try it out it just didn't hold up as well. If the new AvP is as good as AvP2 was then I'm in for some head chomping!
I still haven't played through all the campaigns for Left 4 Dead 2. I don't know why. I like the game a lot, but I just haven't been drawn to play it much. I know I'll get back to it at some point but it is weird to me that I loved the first one so much and this one is really good too, but I just haven't made it any sort of priority.
I played a little bit of the first Warhammer 40k and it was pretty cool. I didn't get sucked into it, but it was good. Warhammer 40k 2 is on sale for $30 right now if anyone is interested in it. With the list of games I have already piling up I think I'm going to pass. I still have Company of Heroes if I need to get more of a RTS fix.
One thing I would encourage everyone to do is install XFire AND use it. If you are in one of those "non-WoW" games and on XFire then people might just see you and join in. Or if you want to plan a night to play a specific game with people that would be cool too.

I bought Dragon Age for Xbox. I am having fun with it, but I wish I had bought it for PC. The control scheme does seem pretty limited on Xbox.

saw bad company @wooties house, seems like every bf game. Nothing new, just need people to play it in order to make it fun. Some times you just need to hop in a tank and run someone down.
arma 2?

Arma 2 was voted best PC game in some category.. i forget what one.
I say we all try to install it and give co-op a go for the LAN party(?). -That is, if it works on everyone's hardware. You know where to find the trial.
*edit* OR Operation Flashpoint 2

So I'm 69% through FarCry2. I'm not sure what game I want to tackle next. With all the rave reviews for Mass Effect 2 I kinda want to play through the first one and then hopefully pickup ME2 at a dropped price. I've heard that Mirror's Edge is short so maybe I'll try that next to get it out of the way.

I suck at finishing games. I'm no farther than a few hours into ME2 still. I really like playing Mirror's Edge with the gamepad.. still haven't gotten close to finishing it either.
I did finally finish MW2 single player the other day though. .. so that's something I guess. However, it was the 360 version, not PC. - go figure.
OH and one more bit about Bad Company2.. The bot voices cuss way too much. They drop the Fbomb even. It's like they're trying too hard. I'm already regretting the purchase. Maybe the gameplay will makeup for it once it's released. The BETA map isn't terribly impressive.
